This is because the Keysnake needs to send and receive data (notes) to and from the piano.

The Keysnake is designed to fit the standard piano key size (each white key being approximately 23mm wide).

The Keysnake's body is four octaves long - this means it has 49 lights for 49 keys. Factoring in the length of the neck and head, the Keysnake fits comfortably on digital pianos of 61 keys and over.

If you have a larger digital piano, if there is a need to access high or low notes outside the Keysnake's range, you can quickly and easily recalibrate the Keysnake one octave up or down.

The Keysnake's neck is bendable, meaning you can bend the head in the direction most suitable to your particular model of piano.

No, we do not allow users to upload their own MIDI files.

In order for Keysnake AI to fully guide the lesson, it requires a song file that contains more data than a MIDI file offers. This song file includes the following additional data:

1. Finger Data - Keysnake AI shows you which finger to use with a light that is colour coded.

2. Phrase Data - During level 1 and 2, notes are grouped together to form small phrases that make sense musically.

3. Lyric Data - Songs are broken up into sections called 'lyrics' so you can learn each lyric in digestible amounts.

4. Count-In Data - Before you start playing on levels 3, 4 and 5, a specific count-in is heard which is custom to that lyric and the current speed of playback (0.5x, 0.75x).

5. Sync Data - During demonstrations or play-alongs, the Keysnake shows the notes synchronised with the original song.

6. Exclusion Data - Some parts of the song are repetitive, so rather than making you re-learn certain areas that are identical, they are excluded from the melody or baseline learning process.

Keysnake 2 comes with the following upgrades to its predecessor:

1. Light Precision Improved - Light distributed from the LEDs now spread out less, making it clearer to identify which piano key is being indicated.

2. Colour Accuracy Improved - The body has been changed from a coloured to a clear plastic, meaning colours are no longer filtered and appear true.

3. Shake-To-Wake - After a period of time of inactivity, the Keysnake enters sleep mode to save power. Keysnake 1 required removal and return of power to awaken it. Keysnake 2 now has an accelerometer on the motherboard allowing for a gentle shake of the head to awaken it.

4. MIDI DIN to USB C Wire Compatible - A MIDI DIN to USB C wire did not exist, so for Keysnake 1 we provided users with a MIDI DIN to USB A wire with a USB A to USB C converter. For Keysnake 2 we have created and now manufacture our own MIDI DIN to USB C wires. We had to modify the motherboard to be compatible with this new wire which resulted in wider tongue cables for Keysnake 2.

5. Redesign - Keysnake 1 featured a friendly, green design. Keysnake 2 now presents a sleek, white design.

6. Improved Packaging - Keysnake 2 comes in bespoke packaging. Once it has been unboxed, it will now immediately lie flat.
